And that means we're in for another dissapointing run of games before we pick up again in the New Year. To find the last time we even won on Boxing Day you have to go back to 1996 where we beat Millwall 2-0 at The Den. Previous Boxing Day defeats include a 5-0 hammering at home by Rotherham and multiple losses to Barnet. All pretty dismal stuff really.

Looking back at the stats actually could mean some good news for us. The team we are playing this year on Boxing Day is Millwall although this year it will be at London Road instead of their place. Of course this really means nothing, a lot changes in 12 years even though we find ourselves in the same league as we both were back then.

This Saturday we played Leicester, now we were confident we could change our usual Christmas form this year on the back of a 16 game unbeaten streak, even if we were heading to one of the toughest teams in the league in front of our biggest league crowd in many years. Unfortunately we folded like a pack of cards in what ended up as Fergie Jnr's biggest ever defeat in management.

I was worried whether we would even make it to the game. At Stamford station we were told the last two trains through to Leicester had been so full that they hadn't let anyone on at Stamford, ticket or no ticket. This turned out to be little more than scaremongering as the train had plenty of room for the 30 or so people who got on, even if we were all standing. At the station we were met with about 20 police, unsurprising as both Leicester City and Leicester Tigers were playing at home at the same time with the stadiums just 5 minutes from each other.

We actually started the game pretty brightly, we did most of the attacking in the first 5 minutes winning a few corners in the process. That all ended with a moment of madness from Craig Morgan. Under no pressure whatsoever when a cross comes in, he takes a mad stab at the ball and ends up deflecting it past the helpless Joe Lewis. It takes the wind out of our sails so early in the game that we were always going to struggle against a quality side like Leicester. The second goal was a bit contentious, while we were attacking George Boyd was slide tackled from behind where the Leicester player appeared to get none of the ball at all, this happened pretty much in front of the ref who waved play on, Leicester broke away and put the ball in the back of the net.

We tried a bit to fight back, hitting the post then the bar and then putting it over the open goal in the process, but our ball retention was very poor in the midfield, and defending wasn't helped by having our best defender ineligible until January, a right back at left back and a central midfielder at right back. Our fans had been in good voice despite the performance, no surprise as we sold out our 3,000 ticket allocation to help Leicester to their highest attendence of the season, higher than 9 Championship and 2 Premiership matches that day. It seemed that Leicester's third goal in the 70th minute was the final straw for a lot of fans though. About 1,000 of them got up with 20 minutes still to play and left the ground.

As you can see in the picture above, Leicester were relying on their sumo sized drummer to get their fans going and it worked well, albeit only in that section, the rest of the crowd were pretty much silent. A bit dissapointing with almost 24,000 people in the stadium. As soon as the fourth goal went in about another 1,000 Posh fans got up to go, it was almost the end of the game by then though and there was no chance of us coming back. Those who stayed applauded the team off the pitch, a show of recognition that even though we lost, we're still at the right end of the table even after just getting promotion and just to thank the team for everything they have achieved so far.

Im bored at work, so I thought id make one of these blogs and update it with my thoughts and opinions on matters.

Let me introduce myself. Im Josh, 19 years old and currently residenting in UK (although have plans to move to Canada sometime next year). Ive been on Neoseeker for nearly 6 years, found it looking for Fifa 2004 information and decided to sign up to the forum. I had my name changed from __JosH__ over 2 years ago. Not many people know me, because I only like posting in a couple of forums - Runescape being the main one...obviously because im a moderator of that forum.

So anyways, what am I doing in my life; what are my hobbies and interests? Im working full time right now, as a personal trainer in a gym 15 minutes away. Ive been very interested in the gym and fitness ever since I started going 3-4 years ago. The past year ive become a hardcore trainer, following tips from bodybuilders (the best way to get that dream body believe it or not). Im big, but id never get as huge as those guys, nor as veiny. I think it looks disgusting. Steroids are something id NEVER turn to, as I know its possible to get a dream physique without them. I enjoy it so much, hence deciding to focus on this for my career. Im also looking to join the fire service within the next few years. Free time, I like to play computer games mainly. Runescape, Unreal Tournement, Counterstrike, Planetside the main ones. Also like the obvious hanging out with friends, clubbing etc.

I also run the website Sherwood Studio.

Seeing as Tekmosis has kindly added the blogging categories of Music and Graphic Design I suppose it's time to begin.

Don't you just hate bloggers? Self-centered, preachy, mindless, mundane, pretentious, melodramatic, self-deluding. If I ever come across as any of these please shoot me PM me.

The aim of this blog is simple, to sift through the crap that's bloated the worlds of music, graphic design/digital arts, gaming and the internet and to highlight the gems, my modern loves if you will.

I might get bored and end up leaving this to die but in the meanwhile I'd like to share some stuff with you that will hopefully make you appreciate things which are super.

  • MUSIC: Girl Talk - Feed The Animals
Impossible to get tired of listening to this album. So many great mixes. The ability to seamlessly work "The Carpenters" into "Metallica" cannot be understated. Best of all, you can pay what you like for the album (how very Radiohead), just hit the link above and enjoy.

  • DIGITAL ART: vampire-zombie and ArtMatrix-Stock's dA galleries.
VW's inspirational photo-manipulations and artmatrix's generous landscape stock galleries inspired my recent entry in the Digital Arts round of the Neolympics. Whether you're an artist yourself or just an admirer they're worth checking out.

  • INTERNET - slicethepie.com
Although techincally music-related, this site is as much about the brilliant application of web 2.0 elements of music-streaming and social networking to the music industry. All in all it's a great website for musicians, fans and investors. Earn money by listening to music? Yes please.

So I got my hands on Phantasy Star Zero before it was supposed to even come out in Japan and I'll be showing you guys what it's like. I like it so far, despite having no clue what anything says. Here's a quick look at character creation. There's not much in the way of customization but maybe there'll be more options for clothing and stuff later on in the game.

We all remember past greats such as "Rocket" Ricard, Gordie Howe and Guy Lafleur. Making the way for a high speed, goal scoring, mullet-wearing, chops baring hockey league. Watching highlight after highlight of past greats ones, I noticed something; the goalies in that era SUCKED.

I won't degrade what these pioneers of the game have done but I just want to make something clear (aka stating the obvious): their hockey isn't the same hockey we have today.
Two different eras = different playing styles, different opportunities and of course, different players. From the likes of Patrick Roy and Martin Brodeur, to Henrik Lundqvist and Roberto Luongo, goaltending had changes dramatically over the years. It's hard to make it in the NHL today. You have to possess a number of skills and traits such as handling, shooting, checking, speed, aggression and passing. There are some better at others and there are those out that that manage to have all those traits pretty much down. Though 1940+ hockey wasn't any different, there was hardly any checking out hits, making the way for more passing and shooting opportunities. Now baring that in mind, would those great pioneers of hockey mentioned earlier be as great today? If we placed Brodeur in the era of Rocket Ricard, would Brodeur go shutout after shutout?

I also want to take note of equipment changes of the years.

    Behold Lorne Worsley in 1955

    ...and 2006 Luongo

The pad size of goalies is a growing issue but I'd also like to mention player gear.

    Maurice Richard

...and Dion Phaneuf with Jerome Iginla. If either of them sent a check towards Ricard, Maurice would die.

Now, are past greats really that great? They didn't have much opposition...

As you can tell, this post is about the death of someone. It was someone very close to me, and I loved him like a brother, even though he was a dog. I grew up with him, and he lived much longer than we thought he would. He had a dangerous tumor that had been growing in his throat for a few years now, and by his death it had reached his heart and lungs as well. He was given a month to live 3 months ago, which we took as a godsend. He was a lively dog up until his death and his health had begun to look like it was improving.

He died on December 5th of this year, and it had nothing to do with his tumor. In the end, he died of a twisted stomach, which apparently is something that happens to older dogs right out of the blue. He had begun bloating instantly from the gases that were building in his stomach, and we learned that it was either a very expensive surgery that most likely wouldn't work due to his health, or the fact that we would have to put him down. We figured that the surgery was selfish, because he would be suffering for the rest of his life.

We then said our goodbyes in the garage, and needless to say, I cried.A lot. He was my first dog and I'd had him since i was a little baby. I grew up with him and the thought of going through one day without him was a troubling thought. We then loaded him into the back of the truck, as my father drove off with him, headed for the animal hospital. After waiting two hours for my father to return, the garage door opened and I heard a jingling of a collar. My heart jumped a beat, thinking that he was ok, and was still alive, but to my dismay, it was just my father bringing the collar back home. This even opened up a new round of tears, as we sat on the couch crying.

I know I will compare all my pets and all animals to him, because he was my first and best dog ever, and he will be missed.

I know this isn't a new idea, but just consider it for a second.

Let's say that God exists. So does Heaven. And Heaven's exactly what stereotypical, mainstream Christianity proposes - absolute paradise. Perfect. Now, what 'perfect' actually translates to is a bit of a worry. Perhaps when we die, and our souls go to Heaven, we lose our humanity and basking in God's glory or whatever is enough to keep us in bliss for the rest of eternity.

...A nice thought, but it doesn't really warrant us thinking about it. Here and now, we can't contemplate what it might be like to lose our humanity. So to leave the thought sequence there would be a bit of a copout.

So even if the truth lies there, let's assume that we don't lose our humanity. Our souls, or whatever, are a perfect imprint of our personalities, our memories - everything except our bodies. Our mind, if you like. That's what goes to Heaven. So we knock at the Pearly Gates in our ethereal form and get let in. What waits for us?

If there's one thing having to deal with kids as a bloody checkout operator for two years has taught me, it's that humans get bored rather easily. I'm not satisfied with the suggestion that we don't get bored in Heaven. If we don't get bored, we haven't retained our humanity as far as I'm concerned. Also doesn't warrant thinking about. So we need something to occupy us... for the rest of eternity.

Allow me to state the obvious for just a teensy second. Eternity is a long time. Like a really, really long time.

So what in the name of Dickens is going to stop us from going out of our sane minds forever? I'm open to suggestions. But there's only so many hours you can play WoW. You WILL tire of it (eventually). And thinking along these lines has led me to one of two conclusions, assuming that all of the above is true:

    1. We're not in Heaven for all eternity.
    2. Heaven isn't 'perfect'.

Now, to justify (1) - if we assume that only good things happen to us in Heaven, we are going to get bored of it, and fast. Well, not fast, maybe. But quickly in the grand scheme of things. If we get bored at all at somepoint, seeing as we're comparing it with the rest of ever, it's quick. The only way that we can circumvent this is if we introduce something to balance out the good, and make us appreciate it more. This is obviously the bad.

As cliched as the Ying Yang thing is, I really do believe that we can't appreciate the good without the bad. Everything we ever wanted, for the rest of eternity, is boring to humans by nature. There's no challenge, no sense of accomplishment. We're left feeling unfulfilled. And to have a challenge, we have to have something standing in our way. The balance of good and bad, and our hard work and triump over these obstacles, is what makes something thoroughly enjoyable on the whole.

Either of these alternatives is fine by me, even as a Christian. Maybe we go to Heaven for a while depending on exactly how good we were in life. And then, maybe, we get reincarnated or something without any memories of the whole ordeal (this brings the meaning of existence into question, but I'll leave that for another night). But I quite like (2).

But now, Heaven is a balance of good and evil. And presumably, the evil would have to be genuine (or at least we'd have to think it was) to give the impression of challenge, and whatnot. This is still fine by me.

...But now, how is Heaven any different from life on Earth, really?

Just a thought. It's late. Maybe I need to lay off the microdots.

    Intro / History
So I figured it would be fun to keep a blog on here about the launching of my flagship website http://questional.com I'm not going to go into too many details on the site because I gotta keep my trade secrets, but I will say that its an even bigger and better version of yahoo answers & answerbag. I'm actually hoping that its going to be my permanent retirement fund, but we'll see. Even if it just gives me enough income to live off of ($1500-$3000 a month) I will be ecstatic.

    Logo Mock 3
Anyway, I just wasn't 100% cool with the logos that I put up last time. They were nice, but they just didn't make me feel "WOW". This is a logo my head administrator is going to be getting his whole side of his car detailed with, so its gotta be snazzy. Anyway, without further ado here is what I call "mock 3".

(Actually its pictured above, still some bugs to work out with blogs -_-)

Personally I love it. But i'm a perfectionist with this site. From all previous stuff i've done, you would think that my site had like a $500,000 funding or something! (lolz) I'll probably be putting my mock 8 logo up, but at least i'm that much closer to launching.

I'm not an avid css coder. I just can't do it. Graphics is just completely out of my scope. Originally I was going to outsource my layout for the site, but thats $800 to $1200 of my budget I now get back. I made a 3 column css layout, and my graphic artist has already sent me a mock 2 version it and i'm just blown away. I can't wait to see what the final look is. I made it all blocky, she is giving those divs definition and making transitional effects between the divs and body. Its amazing.

    My Team
I'll finish up with posting information about my team. I know your not supposed to hire your friends, but these people have always had my back going on years now, and I trust them with my life.

  • Software Designer (php/mysql) / CEO: That would be the creator, Me duh :D. I have so much planned for this site that i'm going to be coding daily. I definitely hope to learn some things like scaling an application, mysql replication, and managing a database of over a million records (thats the part that scares me!).

  • Head Administrator --> Basically my Redemption or Any Super. Pretty much the face of my site. I would love to fill that spot, but with the plans I have going on, i'm going to need to be developing daily for at least the first 6 months. I love it, but in retrospect I won't actually be running the site at all.

  • Graphic Artist / CSS Artist / Creative Director --> In charge of all graphic and visual aspects of the site (with final approval by yours truly obviously). She is a great friend of mine with an amazing graphics sense. Everything she has made thus far is wonderful and I would be no where or flat broke without her. Hooking her up with a job in my company is a dream come true for her and myself.

  • Advertising / Finances / CFO / Asst Administrator --> In charge of learning our advertising campaign as much as she knows her *bleep*. Also, doing all payroll, taxes, all that money garbage I want no part of. (Well except for cashing my check :D ). Since these duties won't be 100% full time, she will also be assisting my head administrator in running the site.

Looks like I spoke too soon. You know, I was all "Looks like it won't be as bad this time" in my last post. But unfortunately no. You know, it didn't have to happen. I could have stayed in my happy and content state. But no. First, there was the Katy Perry story. And now, the Beck story.

If you're really that determined to p!ss me off, then by all means you've done the right thing. And you know who I'm talking to. The fact that you deem it right to, once again, pick out my musical tastes, and step on it until it's known to Neoseeker as cr@p, then by all means you've done the right thing to p!ss me off. The meer fact that you deem it right to call my musical tastes cr@p, and even to advertise it in a thread title. You've p!ssed me off. And now you've pushed it. I'd bet you hoped I wouldn't do this. Advertise it to the public like this. But I suppose this is what you get for unnecessarily annoying me to such an extent. And you know who you are. Just because you might not like Alternative Rock, Jazz, Blues, or whatever Beck decides to turn to next, oh, wait. It's suddenly cr@p. That's right. "Ohey, this kid likes this game I've never even heard about. It must be cr@p".

You know, I hate Eminem. I hate him with every fibre of my being. But I don't pester you by extending the hate to the whole forum. And by that I mean stating that everyone (or Neoseeker, in this case) hates this artist.

By saying 'Beck sucks :P', you're basically saying that Beck sucks in general and no-one even remotely thinks his music is good. See saying 'I think Beck sucks' or 'Beck sucks IMO', then you could have avoided the misfortune of having me distribute the story to the public.

But no. You intentionally did something that you were fully aware would p!ss me off. What you thought would stay in a small forum community was just yelled over a loudspeaker to the world. You get what you deserve.
