I have to announce that I am planning on moving to a more passive role on the site. I cannot keep up with the games and activities I've been doing for the past few months. Instead, I'll try to frequent more social forums and maybe game forums. I don't expect the volume of posts I've been keeping.

I will not be joining events or games at this time.

I'll be on the site for sure, just not doing as much as I have been. I can see this developing into a bout of inactivity in the future.

If you need me, I'll be around my other haunts like Steam or Discord, but most of you don't really care enough to chat with ol' Cappy. That, or I've cut contact with you because I'm flighty.

Anyway, this isn't me quitting the site again or anything. I just felt the need to announce I'm not bothering with stuff right now.

The way I see it is Goku etc, always reaches their physiological max all the time.

According to a theory Goku etc's physical peek was that of Mr Satan, Ki is used as the main method of reinforcement when containing such a tremendous Ki PowerLevels.

I disagree.
That makes zero sense as then there wouldn't be any strain placed on the body at all as Ki would take the full burden.
And that doesn't happen in the DragonBall Universe cause it does not work that way.

That's like suggesting an increased usage of electricity.
The same electricity flowing through the wire would also be used to insolate the wire itself.
And that & only that prevents or reduces the passage, transfer, or leakage of heat, electricity, or sound from that wire.

That's using twice the electricity just to power 1 light.
Nope.

Goku continues reaching his physiological max repeatedly, but overcomes it.
Transformations & Fusions are two of physical ways.
adapting is another.

Even excluding Transformations & Fusions His Ki continues to grow well beyond his physical level, but his physical level can adapt, adjust, strengthened to hold & properly manage, manipulate, & maintain increased levels of Ki.

Take for example Kaioken.

Kaioken x3 & x4 put so much pressure on Goku's body that it took him a few seconds to power up Kaioken, he even vented steam.
Kaioken at that time placed so much strain on his body that being slapped on the shoulder caused him great pain & agony.

Kaioken is a perfect example of what happens when you add more Ki into a body that cannot handle or i8n short isn't trained for it.

After then his PowerLevel increased & YES his Ki level increases.
HOWEVER so does the physical requirement to hold that power.
With healing & training Goku could physically handle such levels of Ki & even apply higher Kaioken multipliers then walk away like it was nothing.

However There's still a gap between physical strength & Ki level.
As Akira Toriyama said physical ability has limits.
When the physical form cannot handle large amounts of Ki it drains your stamina that much more & puts more strain & stress on the body.

quote VampireWicked
The increased heart rate, the strain & stress, the huge muscle gain, the exhaustion, that's happening from Ki exertion!
To handle that they would have to be physically fit.

quote VampireWicked
But muscular builds or big muscles don't equal strong characters.
One could keep assuming that large muscles equal more strength.
They don't.

It doesn't work that way in the DragonBal Universe.
Something the DraagonBall logic shows us as Toriyama has a habit with making small characters incredibly powerful.
To quote a member on a different forum.
quote
Yeah, base Kaioken increases the users power/ability by 50%. Or, simply put, raises you from 100% to 150%. So it's A + (Ax50%). So, Goku's 8000 x 50% = 4000. Kaioken (base) is 8000 + 4000 = 12000.

As for usability, Kaioken does amp your ability, but it was always meant to be temporary. Your body doesn't change. The thing with SSJ transformations is that they are Transformations. The body changes to regulate the users energy properly and utilize it fully. When we saw Goku use Kaiokenx3, his body bulked up to try and contain the energy and he mentioned that he couldn't quite handle it, that forcing out that much power from his body was causing it to damage himself. Basically he was injuring himself.
Later he does master the technique where he can constantly use a KKx5 without much of a drain, but only in short bursts while fighting Freeza. The highest multiplier was x20 and it appeared it was used explicitly to boost his energy projection as he tried to kill Freeza with his amped up Kamehameha. Yet, as we saw, he could only sustain that much output for a matter of seconds and it took a massive toll on his energy reserves.

Goku had pretty much mastered the technique. And that is what it is; a technique. A skill to be used periodically like any other. What it basically did was draw from your inner pool of ki and forcefully amplify the amount you naturally generate. While it enables you to magnify all your stats, it also drains your stamina that much more quickly. It's basically a gamble to see if you can win before your power is depleted or if your body gives out from trying to regulate more energy that it's meant to handle. It's like someone trying to lift weights they're not ready for. Like using an adrenaline rush to push you into doing something out of your weight class, which strains your body immensely and can lead to hernias, ripped tendons and even ruptured blood vessels just making the attempt. That's kind of the effect Kaioken has.

The more Ki they exert the more the heart rate increases, more strain & stress experienced, the larger the muscles get, faster they exhaust.

Which takes me to SuperSaiyan Grades.

The Grades I don't see as Transformations.
It makes no sense, why would Grade2 & Grade3 have their own multipliers to begin with when they're the same form just buffed up within the initial SuperSaiyan Transformation itself.

quote "Daizenshuu Ex Guide"
•Sûpâ Saiya-jin dai ichi-dankai (the normal Super Saiyan, or SSJ1)

• Sûpâ Saiya-jin dai ni-dankai (USSJ 1; the second stage of SSJ1)

• Sûpâ Saiya-jin dai san-dankai (USSJ 2; the third stage of SSJ1)

Goku is the first to go through the transformation into a Super Saiyan. It is widely speculated that the Sentô Ryoku ("combat strength," or if you must, "power level") of the character must be around 180,000, which Goku reaches on Namek; this cannot be confirmed or denied, however (it's merely speculation). The transformation into a Super Saiyan is generally caused by an overwhelming sense of rage and hatred.

In Goku's case, when Freeza shoots Piccolo through the chest (nearly killing him), murders Kuririn by causing him to explode from the inside, and declares he will be going after Gohan next... well... yeah, that just about does it.

The stage is characterized by giant spikey golden hair. The pupils also turn a bluish green color. The power of the character is exponentially increased. Control over this power, however, is not always the easiest thing at first. The Super Saiyan stage has an interesting effect on the Son family, in addition to its normal effects: the way their eyes are drawn changes slightly. Normally, the outline around the eye is not fully drawn (it circles around about 3/4 of the way the eyeball). When in Super Saiyan, their eyes are fully surrounded by an outline (the same way that all villains are drawn; this is due to Toriyama wanting to show the anger and hatred that must be present for a Super Saiyan transformation).

There are actually two stages within the "USSJ" stage, really just varying levels of the same exact thing. In the first stage, the muscles increase in size, while power rises. In the second stage, the muscles increase in size even more, the power rises even more, speed falls, and with some characters, the pupils disappear. In each of the those stages, more energy is consumed, as well.

In the second stage, the muscles increase in size even more, the power rises even more, speed falls.
The body mass increases greatly (creating an almost awkward looking character; so short, yet so buff!).

While obvious that Trunks is able to reach USSJ1, he takes it one step further to USSJ2 (note: this is not SSJ2, which is explained below. Trunks never reaches SSJ2). His body mass increases along with his raw power, but his speed unfortunately decreases, as well. The energy consumption is also increased.

Trunks also introduces the idea of losing the pupils during the transformation, which would surface once again with Broli in DBZ movie eight with the "Legendary" stage (see below). Trunks' raw power is actually greater than Vegeta's, in this form. Trunks holds off showcasing his new power until Vegeta is knocked unconscious, fearful of not only surpassing his father, but seeing the reaction from his father. Due to his lack of speed, while Trunks may have had the power to do battle with Perfect Cell, he simply was not able to keep up, and thus conceded.

If Grade3 was more powerful or had a higher boost than Goku would've revealed his Grade3 to Korin instead of SuperSaiyanFullPower.
But there's nothing officially stating Grade3 does have a higher power than SuperSaiyanFulPower.

Goku's goal was to unleash the absolute full potential of SuperSaiyan with no drawbacks, if Grade3 did that than it would've been the form to be refined, instead it wasn't & seen as worthless.

DragonBall SUPER even shows the unleased power of Grade 4 (SuperSaiyanFullPower) vs Grade 1.
That says Saiyans in Z hit their limit in Base form as Both Cabba & Vegeta are equal in Base, but as SuperSaiyans Vegeta counters his attacks like nothing.
So all they were doing in Grades were powering up SuperSaiyan like official statements say while Grade4 brought out the full potential.

Grades 2 & 3 They're just Power Ups.
Power Ups of the initial SuperSaiyan form to a point beyond its limits to properly control that much Ki.

Note the massive increase in muscle size for G2 & G3.

Reminds me of Master Roshi's Buff state.
A state which is a drawback of more Ki that exceeded his limits in regular form.

The Buff exaggerated muscular form is famous for this.

To use GreatSaiyaman's posted evidence.

quote
The Daizenshuu entry for Bojack says "By heightening his ki, he enlarges his muscles to power up." So that indicates the muscles enlarge because the ki is heightened and the power up comes from the enlarged muscles, not merely the heightened ki by itself. These bulked up muscle forms should all behave similarly regardless of species in my opinion. They should all have the same essential functions unless stated otherwise, so if anyone wants to say Bojack or Freeza's muscle forms behave differently than a Saiyan's I say prove it. And I don't think they can.

Muscles are commonly associated with strain in Dragon Ball. Freeza's body only bulked up because his Ki size was disproportionally bigger than his Ki control, and Daizenshuu 2 does states Roshi's body bulged as a consequence of his mighty power.

The same thing happens with Grade 2 & 3, the body bulges as a consequence of poor Ki Control of that power.
Through training that tremendous power can be managed in a normal frame.
Hence Grade4.
That's the entire point of G4.
To have that power beyond the initial SuperSaiyan limit in a form that handles it with perfet Ki Control is the goal Goku was shooting for.

Buffing up muscle mass means nothing.
Statements from PerfectCell shows this, Trunks realizes this.

In fact G2 & G3 were pointless as they both had ridiculous drawbacks, so much so that Vegeta who seeks power didn't want to use G3 & Goku never bothered using either.

Well that's how is see & understand Super Saiyan Grades, Transformation Multipliers, & PowerLevels.

You're welcome to share how you see & understand them.

Thank You Dagon for the link.
http://web.archive.org/web/20111103165624/http://kanzentai.com/trans-daiz02.php?m=04&id=grow_up#link

Stop thinking of it as separate multipliers for the same Transformation.

Imagine pouring 16oz of liquid (Ki) into a container till it's filled.
Now imagine adding another 20oz of liquid (Ki) into the same container but the container starts to bulge & expand.

The initial container can't hold anymore liquid (Ki) passed its limit without expanding so the container gets reinforced.

The distinction between Grade1 & Grade4 is showing us how Grades 2 & Grade 3 are filling the user's body passed their limit causing the muscles to expand.

Goku takes that initial form & trains it to hold all that Ki in the original body, the initial SuperSaiyan form.
So Goku has access to all that Ki that caused Grade 2 & 3 to bulge out, is absolutely perfectly held in a refined SuperSaiyan form.
Grade 4 SuperSaiyan.

quote VampireWicked
What I get from the series is the requirement would be physically strong enough to where Ki usage isn't a burden by causing great strain, stamina reduction, or other drawbacks on the user.
Their physiology is bearing the brunt of the Ki used to mitigate the force of an attack.
The aspects of Ki.
Mind, spirit, and vigor
quote VampireWicked
The physical body, the user's mind, & their soul each play pivotal parts when using Ki?

So the better condition each of those aspects are in, then that would mean the efficient their Ki usage is.
Makes sense ?

To train physical the body, to train mentally, spiritually not only to keep in shape but to get stronger would also strengthen Ki as well.

What I'm saying is with all the training, fighting, etc, someone like Goku his physical conditioning is going to be above average human levels.
Not Universe breaking levels but far enough to place him above someone like Mr. Satan on his best day.

History shows that Saiyans among characters like Yamcha, Krillin, Tein, Master Roshi, etc.
Were all above top normal human athletes just by training their bodies to handle & manipulate Ki.

quote Battle Power Guide
First Appearance: 10
He already has twice the power of an ordinary person. What’s more, his body is tough enough to repel a gun bullet.

quote Saiyan History 101
Anyway, moving on a bit, we get a little more information on the Saiyans from Kaio in chapter 21. As Goku is struggling with the high gravity on Kaio’s planet, which is ten times the Earth’s, Kaio notes that “the planet where the Saiyans were had about the same gravity as here…They toughened up their bodies there…” In light of some of the later material that depict the Saiyans as invaders to Planet Vegeta, it’s interesting that Kaio refers to Planet Vegeta not as the Saiyan homeworld but simply the planet where they were. Perhaps Toriyama had some inkling of that back story at this point?
quote Saiyan History 101
Planet Plant is a difficult planet to live on, as its gravity is unusually strong. However, two races live here. The majority of the inhabitants of Planet Plant are Tsufruians. Their bodies are small, but knowledge-wise they have a comparatively advanced culture and civilization. The other race has an unusually small population, but their bodies are large and strong. They are a primitive, warlike race called the Saiyans. Their biggest distinguishing characteristic is that they have tails, and every one of them seems to be a warrior.

[Picture of Tsufruians, with scouter and blaster gun, labeled “Tsufruian”. We see a colored version of this guy in DBZ episode 20 when Kaio introduces the Tsufruians] Due to the heavy gravity, they are about half as big as the Saiyans.

[arrow pointing to scouter on Tsufruian's head] This scouter, for instance, and other such things were originally Tsufruian inventions.

2. Kame-sennin’s training principles [TRA#TPR]
Chapter: 29, P3.4
Kame-sennin: “Searching for something might not seem like much, but it requires considerable willpower and concentration. To top it off, in this case it will require stamina too.”

Chapter: 31, P14.4-5
Kame-sennin: “Starting tomorrow, for the next few months you’ll do all the same training as today…While wearing these 20 kg shells on your back! See why I’m called Kame-sennin?”

[ ] All the basics of the Kame-sen School of martial arts has been included in the training which you’ve been doing every day these 7 months. It seems you haven’t realized it, but your eyes, fists, legs, your entire body, and even your mind have been toughened up. ‘Kenpou’ is nothing more than putting that into practice. You don’t strive in the martial arts to win, but rather to not lose to yourself. For that purpose, go study kenpou on your own, thinking on your own how to utilize the basics which you have learned.”

Chapter: 32, P9.4
Context: after removing their weighted shells
Kuririn: “Huh!?”
Goku: “My body’s gotten light! I can’t feel my own weight at all!”

What are the requirements for becoming strong?
Based on all the actual official evidence given.
I want you to determine which you think is the most physically superior character.

Base Goku little to no Ki, unconscious, falls & survives re-entry from low orbit.
Vegeta in Base without powering up catches him.

Okay Here's why I basically believe SuperSaiyan is a times 50 multiplier, & how I understand it.
Also how fixed transformation multipliers, SuperSaiyan Grades works with PowerLevels.

PowerLevels & Multipliers.

PowerLevels & multipliers are two separate things.
PowerLevels are the numbers seen by a scouter.

Now no matter what the PowerLevel is, it gets multiplied by whatever the set transformation multiplier is.

Like if Vegeta has a Base PowerLevel of 20,000,000,000
SuperSaiyan multiplies it by 50 & it's 1,000,000,000,000

quote
Freeza 50%: 60 million
Freeza 100%: 120 million
After reaching his final form, Freeza overwhelms Goku with only half of his true capabilities. However, he unleashes his full power after the appearance of the Super Saiyan.

Note: This puts 50% Freeza as twice as strong as Goku using the Kaiō-Ken x10, and equal to Goku with Kaiō-Ken x20. Goku says in the manga that his Kaiō-Ken x20 attack hardly damaged Freeza.

Daizenshuu 7′s battle powers for both Freeza’s full power and Super Saiyan Goku are commonly said to be only 12 and 15 million, respectively, while normal Goku is given as 300,000 and Freeza at 50% as 6 million. This misconception most likely traces back to the Ultimate DBZ Information Site, a very influential English Dragon Ball fan site in the 1990s that was run by Greg Werner. On the “Little Known Dragon Ball Z Facts” page, item 26 provides a list of all battle powers from the manga or daizenshuu, and it gives these numbers for Goku and Freeza.

Werner prided himself on creating all of his site’s content, and much of his site consisted of things he took from Daizenshuu 7, so it is unlikely that he relied on someone else to make his list. Countless other fan sites relied on Werner’s site for information (and often took his content verbatim), so this mistranslation spread throughout the English-speaking Dragon Ball fan community. In particular, the popular site Planet Namek also used 12 and 15 million in their power levels list, color-coding them as being from the daizenshuu. It is possible that “SkullMac”, the individual responsible for maintaining Planet Namek′s power list, made the same translation mistake as Werner, but it is more likely that he relied upon Werner’s site for these numbers.

At any rate, how would someone mistranslate these numbers? This is the way those battle powers are written in Daizenshuu 7:

Goku: 300万
Super Saiyan Goku: 1億5000万
Freeza 50%: 6000万
Freeza 100%: 1 億2000万

“万” (man) is the kanji for 10 thousand, while “億” (oku) represents 100 million. If you do the math, “300 man” is 3 million and “1 oku, 5 thousand man” is 150 million. It is easy to see how someone not too experienced with the Japanese number system could make a mistake converting them, especially since all the previous battle powers in this section of Daizenshuu 7 are written purely in Arabic numerals, with no kanji or mathematical conversion required.

Super Saiyan: 150 million
The warrior of legend, the Super Saiyan, finally awakens. In addition to having battle power 50 times that of his normal state, he now overwhelms even Freeza.

Note: Since Goku was unable to beat Freeza with Kaiō-Ken x20 while Freeza was only using half his power but was then finally able to defeat Freeza as a Super Saiyan, we can infer that Goku as a Super Saiyan must be over 40 times as powerful as he is normally.
This rule of Super Saiyan yielding a 50-fold increase in power is also mentioned in Daizenshuu 7′s glossary entry on Super Saiyan, and in its attack dictionary entry for Super Saiyan as well. It also turns up in the first volume of the Dragon Ball GT Perfect Files (where it is said to be “according to one theory”), Dragon Ball: Landmark, and the Super Exciting Guide: Story Volume, which simply reprints Daizenshuu 7′s battle power list. In the entry for “Battle Power” in Daizenshuu 7′s terms glossary, Super Saiyan Goku’s battle power is given as “over 150 million”.

Also in the Super Exciting Guide: Story Volume, Toriyama revealed in an interview that he thought a multiplier of 50 was rather large, and that he had originally drawn it with the sense of being a 10-fold increase in what Goku had been “up until then”. It is unclear how this would put Super Saiyan in relation to Goku’s regular use of Kaiō-Ken x10 to gain a 10-fold increase in power, and the “up until then” bit muddies things further.
Since Goku had already multiplied his power 10 and 20 times with the Kaiō-Ken as he fought Freeza, did Toriyama mean that he thought of Super Saiyan as being 10 times stronger than that, meaning it would make Goku overall 100 or 200 times stronger than he normally was?

If so, it is hard to make sense of Toriyama saying that a 50-fold increase is too large. If Toriyama meant that it only made Goku 10 times stronger than he was without using Kaiō-Ken, then Super Saiyan Goku is only half as strong as he was when using the Kaiō-Ken x20, at which point he was unable to significantly harm Freeza. Perhaps the answer is that Toriyama is being his usual forgetful self, since he himself admits in the same interview to have forgotten much of Dragon Ball′s story himself, and that we should not take these numbers he throws out too seriously.

That's why the statement made by LordBerus makes sense.

Power increases, Zenkai scaling, after Namek were small for Saiyans in Base.
So Transformations, & Fusions were introduced.
Note: The ending paragraph seems to mostly be a way of explaining why no battle powers are available after the battle with Freeza, saying that past this point battle powers become simply immeasurable. The way the note about near-death power-ups becoming “small” is phrased in Japanese (sukunakunatta), it could either mean that they became small, infrequent, or simply insufficient.
In Base Saiyan PowerLevels did increase but not beyond the PowerLevel needed as a SuperSaiyan to defeat Frieza on Namek.
150 million

This is the reason why I never see multipliers as changing, & why I've always seen them as set.

Raising the Transformation multiplier & or the Based PowerLevel I see as completely pointless when a fixed multiplier & an higher arbitrary Base PowerLevels would accomplish the same task.

An Arbitrary Base PowerLevel could do as long as it doesn't come close to hitting 100Million.
That way it doesn't contradict the statement by Beerus.saying Frieza > Base Saiyans.

Dear Supers,

It is me, sword_of_omens again.

I hear that punk busta Chimaira is applying to be the new mod over at Tabletop Games and I just can't allow that to happen. I am the true choice for that forum.

For one, I already mod a Special Interest forum. With Mr. Allingo taking a sabbatical, I am in charge. As you know, General Chimaria was also in charge there once too. I know I am the Übermod instead of him. I made people play Kirby's Superstar while subliminally making those same people bet millions of Cap Bucks on the Roulette.

Another thing, I am one of the richest due to my gambling skill. If you don't want me to mod, I'll just buy the spot. I am super rich in Cap Bucks. I actually own the Cap Bucks printing press and really it is that Cap guy who gives away stuff on my orders.

Lastly, I win all of the games I play. Isn't the grand prize supposed to be able to boss Cap around so he makes Neoseeker Candyland or Neoseeker Monopoly? Of course it is.

Don't make the mistake of promoting Chi-guy. I'm the real winner and that's what the future of Tabletop needs.

Ps: As mod, I promise to make Snarf_of_Omens only land on the go to jail space.

Whaaaat, that post is 8 years old?? Well since Square Enix has had a lot of new releases and characters have changed since then, let’s do a second wishlist for a new Dissidia game! A note to those who stumble across this: I am in live with the idea of Dissidia becoming more “Square Enix Dissidia”, not just “Final Fantasy Dissidia”, so yes, crossover characters galore! Also, many Square IPs are spin-off or sister series to FF anyway, so there.

Some entries, such as Mystic Quest, are wishful thinking yes (Benjamin REALLY needs some time in the spotlight though), but I do believe that Mana, Chrono, and Dragon Quest have a place in Dissidia. In terms of those who I really wish was added to Dissidia, I really prefer Folmarv over Ultima, I don’t think Dissidia needs another “end of the game witch” character like CoD or Ultimecia; it needs someone who was present in the story and Folmarv is a nice breath of fresh air, being possessed Templar whose presence is quite threatening in Tactics. You knew you were in for a fight whenever he showed up.

I really love Chrono Cross. I really do. I think Serge is awesome and Lynx is a straight up badass. I can imagine playing as those two in a game series like Dissidia would be really fun, with Serge Dash & Slash and Flying Arrow’ing everyone, and Lynx blasting people with Feral Cats and Glide Hooking people. They can use elements to balance out the rest of their gameplay, like Serge having PhotonBeam and Lynx having a version of Gravtionne.

I don’t know much about Layle, really, but it seems like Crystal Chronicles had its own following and Layle is about the only suitable candidate to represent CC, and given his appearance in Opera Omnia versus all other CC characters Square knows it too. Layle would be a nice addition to round out representing another big part of the FF franchise.

Weight Loss Program

A guy calls a company and orders their 5-day, 5lbs weight loss program.

The next day, there's a knock on the door and there stands before him a voluptuous, athletic, 19 year old babe dressed in nothing but a pair of Nike running shoes and a sign around her neck..

She introduces herself as a representative of the weight loss company. The sign reads, "If you can catch me, you can have me."

Without a second thought, he takes off after her. A few miles later puffing and puffing, he finally gives up. The same girl shows up for the next four days and the same thing happens. On the fifth day, he weighs himself and is delighted to find he has lost 5lbs as promised.

He calls the company and orders their 5-day/10lbs program. The next day there's a knock at the door and there stands the most stunning, beautiful, sexy woman he has ever seen in his life. She is wearing nothing but Reebok running shoes and a sign around her neck that reads, "If you catch me you can have me".

Well, he's out the door after her like a shot. This girl is in excellent shape and he does his best, but no such luck. So for the next four days, the same routine happens with him gradually getting in better and better shape.

Much to his delight on the fifth day when he weighs himself, he discovers that he has lost another 10lbs as promised. He decides to go for broke and calls the company to order the 7-day/25 lbs program.

"Are you sure?" asks the representative on the phone. "This is our most rigorous program." "Absolutely," he replies, "I haven't felt this good in years."

The next day there's a knock at the door; and when he opens it he finds a huge muscular guy standing there wearing nothing but pink running shoes and a sign around his neck that reads, "If I catch you, you are mine."

He lost 33 lbs that week..

Tabletop and Careers & Finance are both bopping. I'm happy with my efforts in both of those forums. It finally seems like Special Interest has more traction to it than just Wrestling and IRP. I'm not knocking those forums at all. I like IRP and I'd probably like Wrestling too if I actually watched it.

In a better life, I'd try to push for a possible mod spot in Careers & Finance. In a better life I wouldn't have left Tabletop. In a better life, I'd probably do a lot more things, but I gotta take the small victories while I can.

I started up another writing journal thing in Creative Writing. I might do stories again when I'm not so busy. Work sucks up a lot of time and I'm so exhausted when I get home.

I was telling Intoxication about the process of how I update the games. I suppose I can give you a more in depth version here.

sword_of_omens places his bets for the roulette. At this point, I also have 5 other notifications from other games, but I try to do all like-games at the same time.

I keep Neoseeker open and Tabletop Sim open. I read off his bets and move the chips accordingly. While the guys do the math for me, I double check it anyway. I move on to the next person placing bets on roulette and do the same.

After that's all done. I press "print screen" and paste that into MS Paint. I then select the area I want, make sure I didn't cut anything off that I need, and then paste it into another MS Paint file. There, I crop it a bit and save it as bets. I just save over the bets file every single time I update it so I don't have 100000 copies of the board.

I then post the picture and total bet amounts in the thread. I then subtract the bets from the totals on the bank page.

The roulette is pretty easy. Pai Gow Poker is the more time consuming one since I have to screenshot and crop every single hand for the thread. I could save time and just list the hands in text, but I think the visual makes the game more...appealing I guess?

If I'm at work or another computer where I can't access Tabletop, I just let it sit. I can't do anything about it.

That's why I sort of like Seeker Spies. I can edit that pretty much anywhere. You might notice that the colors of the stars might look like different shades of blue or red. That's because I copied the picture from Neoseeker and posted it in the less updated file to edit it. You see, I have 2 files for Seeker Spies. One is at home and the other is at Job 1. At any given time, one of those is more updated than the other. When I move the newer image over via copy/paste, the hues get a little wonky. No one has said anything about it so I didn't worry about it. I don't even know if people noticed.

Anyhow, I'll continue on helping Special Interest. I have my eyes on Travel, Arcades, and Health & Fitness. I think Sports Betting has potential for Cap Bucks, but we'll see. I can run some sort of horse race thing there where the horses are owned by Gotenks and myself.

Plans, plans, plans.

First off, gotta give credit where it is due. Gotenks I told you this in a PM, but thanks again for inspiring the Cap Buck. That sort of joke we had going turned into something that's been nothing but fun to manage. It has given way to the Cap's Casino and the Neostreet Market.

Second, gotta thank all you guys for going along with my silly idea. sword_of_omens Intoxication The Lost Soul Praetorian_Lord you guys rock for going along with all this. These threads have been the most fun I've had in a while.

So, what is next for Cap? I was planning on running another Cap's Casino game with PokeLounge to promote activity there. I have the cards ready, I just need to finalize the game board. It'll be the little card flip game that you can play in Pokemon Silver. Betting will be similar to how the Roulette currently works.

I think I'm ready to try writing a story again. I'm going to make some sort of noir style story about how Detective Toxie investigates some sort of assassination plot in the Cap's Casino. That's just one idea. I could always re-write the Cap's Cruise or Pain's Too Many Coronas Mafia ideas again. I'll keep my ideas attainable this time so I don't get mad with how the story becomes.

I'm also thinking about writing about every single heist in Payday 2 now that the game has reached the end of its lifespan. That's probably not very interesting to anyone here, but I wanna do it anyway.

That said, I'll be sticking around for the Retro Game Society and the new tourney there. I hope I don't lose to sword_of_omens too many times in Ice Hockey for the NES.

Rapture collected and conducted a small interview with me about Neoseeker and personal stuff. One of the questions asked what advice I'd give people. While not qualified to really give advice I suffer a common failing where I really enjoy sharing my philosophies and personal values.

I realized I forgot to mention a few really important things in my original answer. I'll indulge myself by writing them here. Nobody likes someone to talk too much, so I'm sorry to foist this upon you. If you don't like these feel free to ignore them.

Be grateful. Spend a few moments every day to think on things to be grateful for. Be grateful for big things and small things. Be grateful when you're warming up in bed, or enjoying a hot shower. Be grateful for a delicious lunch, or be grateful for a view that you normally take for granted. Some of the most mundane things in modern life are taken for granted, but are luxuries only dreamed of just a few generations ago.

Listen more, talk less. I have a lot of work to do on this one. We spend way too much trying to tell others about our lives, when what people appreciate most is an attentive listener.

Be forgiving: don't hold grudges and don't hold things against anyone. People make mistakes, people have bad days. I get very frustrated in the moment and always regret it afterwards.

Be respectful and patient to those around you. Everyone deserves courtesy. If we all spent that extra effort to be courteous to one another we'd find that life was better for all of us. Easier said than done, but something to try to reflect on. I make many mistakes in the patience department, and again, I always regret it.

Some of these emotional things are extremely hard to do or to maintain and I struggle to succeed in them. Practice or reflect on some of these when you have free time or a free moment and maybe your mindfulness when calm will kick in when you're faced with stress or strong emotions.

Take chances and create opportunities, or grasp opportunities that spring up. I find that every time a door closes another one opens up nearby or soon after. Maybe the new door doesn't open to something as wondrous or as good, but for some reason something always becomes available for someone willing to look and take the opportunity. At the same time, I find it's true that obvious opportunities don't just drop on your lap, you have to look for them and you will notice a pattern. It takes initiative and putting yourself out there, and you have to reign in your fear of failure and rejection.

Having large goals is great, but something too far away can discourage you from trying to reach it. Try to do small things that lead to your ultimate goals. Little victories are just as sweet, and every one puts you closer to your final goals. Sometimes you reach and surpass your goals without realising it because you're constantly re-evaluating mini goals. This leads to...

Everything you do to better yourself or have the best life is a part of a journey, there aren't final destinations and final goals.

Of course there are many more than the above. I guess I should spend time to write these out for myself and add/revise as part of my reflection. Certainly writing them down and re-reading them every so often helps you get re-acquainted with important values.

Remember how in the old days, whenever a blockbuster movie came out, a video game based on that movie came out with it to make a few more bucks? Almost all of them had shoddy quality and very few of them were fun or finished. But a few among them were actually not bad and some were pretty good. Granted, they had nowhere near the polish, fun, content, graphics, or story/dialogue a AAA game would offer, but that didn’t stop them from being solid games within themselves. Whenever I think of good movie tie-in games I’ve played, I think Goldeneye 64, The Amazing Spider-Man, and Transformers Dark of the Moon.

Goldeneye is the ultimate classic. Mention Goldeneye in a group of gamers and prepare for nostalgia stories.

From what I’ve heard, Spider-Man 2, based on Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 2 movie, was an excellent game. But I didn’t play that, I played The Amazing Spider-Man, based on Andrew Garfield’s first movie. Honestly? It was fun. It was repetitive, yes, and getting ALL of those comicbook pages was a nightmare, but for what it was, it was an enjoyable experience. The new Spider-Man on PS4 is actually a lot more like TASM than you’d think based on what I’ve played.

Transformers Dark of the Moon was an quick copy-and-paste job of the Transformers War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron games. They took the engine and the gameplay and painted a coat of Michael Bay’s Transformers on top. The result? War for Cybertron lite. And that isn’t a bad thing. Cool environments you wouldn’t see in either Cybertron game along with the already completed gamesplay mechanics of the mentioned games made for an enjoyable game that I didn’t mind going back and getting all the achievements for.

The point is, I miss those old cash grab games. Most were just awful, but from what I’ve heard many actually made decent money and it’s a shame to see them go away, especially because every so often, a gem would appear amongst the rubble. Maybe one day they’ll come back, and mediocracy with an occasional prodigy will flourish again.

2018 was the year of Final Fantasy XIII for me. At the beginning of the year, I went through FFXIII-2, at the end of the year I went through Lightning Returns. Now going into 2019, I’m just about done with the original FFXIII, bar the time consuming trophies. I originally went through the XIII trilogy on the Xbox 360 when the games first came out, when I still only had a giant box TV that only gave out a whopping 720p with a 15 or so inch display. Now I’m going through them again on PS3 with a 55’ 4K TV and I had no idea what I was missing. The graphics on the games are insane, even for this day and age, and the environments are beautiful.

Going through these games again is something of a eye opener for me. Back then the trilogy was not good in my opinion. The original Final Fantasy XIII was a frustrating drag whose story made no sense, XIII-2 was unnecessary, and LR was even more frustrating and unnecessary. But, coming back to them knowing what to expect actually made these games very enjoyable, to the point where XIII-2 has risen to become one of my favorite Final Fantasy games. The streamlined battle system and monster raising system are very satisfying and Caius is a badass. Bar a few needlessly time consuming ones, collecting fragments was fun, and the beautiful open world environments were a joy to traverse.

Lightning Returns was also enjoyable because it satisfied my like of time management games. Cramming in as many quests and trophies in a single in-game day as I can was satisfying and the battle system was a nice fresh take on the other two games.

Now we move onto the original FFXIII. To some, the game was great, and to others the game is the blacksheep in Final Fantasy’s happy little flock. Before now, I would’ve agreed with the naysayers, saying that the game was far too linear, battles played themselves with the the auto battle option, the dialogue and story made absolutely no sense, and the characters were bland and annoying. But coming back to it with fresh eyes has changed my mind. The flaws are still very much there, but XIII is a good game.

So, you’re probably asking, “if XIII is a good game to you now, what are the flaws?”. Well, in my opinion, the flaws lie almost completely in the battle system. With your characters completely stopping to do poses when changing paradigms - sometimes stopping for a full 5 seconds - while your enemies and their stagger gauges keep moving, and the fact that you simply lose the battle when your party leader dies (and the fact that you can’t change party leaders midbattle), there are a few things that need to be polished in XIII’s battle system that XIII-2 mostly took care of. Of course, there is also the glaring issue of your AI party members and healing you, which will leave you screaming things at your TV such as “HEAL ME PLEASE”, “WHY ARE YOU USING CURA INSTEAD OF CURE?” and “YOU HAVE A FULL ATB GAUGE. USE IT. I’M GOING TO DIE!”.

FFXIII’s 10 year anniversary is coming up next year, and the games have recently been made backwards compatible with Xbox One with (what I heard is) a great graphics update, so I think now would be a good time time to give Final Fantasy XIII the Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age treatment, and revamp the battle system. To me, this is simply transplanting XIII-2’s battle system into XIII. The following changes would make XIII an infinitely better game in my opinion:

1. The way you initiate battles. In XIII you simply run up to enemies and try not to be detected by them to preemptively strike them. In XIII-2 and LR, you attack them, which also reduces their total HP for their duration of the battle, which is a feature that XIII could use, especially when it comes to enemies whose fights drag on simply due to their resistances rather than their difficulty.

2. Paradigm shifting. A complaint that myself and others have had in the past with paradigm shifting is that your party stops moving completely to individually to do poses while shifting. Not only that, but your enemies do not stop attacking and their stagger gauges don’t stop falling as this goes on. In XIII-2 that is severely cut down and much more streamlined, and each party member does a quick pose that barely interupts their actions. Taking that and translating it to XIII I feel would make battles much more enjoyable and make grinding much more bareable.

3. Party leaders. So this is a weird and frustrating one. Simple question: why do you lose the battle when your party leader dies? This is fairly artificial difficulty, whereas it would be much better if you simply changed leaders when your current one died, or you were given a 10 second or so grace period where you were given a chance to be revived by the AI. Most of the deaths I’ve suffered in XIII so far have been because the AI makes poor choices in healing. Why is Hope only using two ATB bars to heal me when he has 5, and the enemy is going to town with his claws? This was also fixed in XIII-2 and I didn’t even need it in that game.

4. The CP and Crystarium. This one really only needs small tweaks. I don’t feel like the Crystarium should be capped in increments during the bulk of the game like it is, and I feel like the CP should be should be scaled to reflect that. I feel that you should be able to level up as much as you want, but ensure earning the CP for it is a chore early in the game.

That’s how I would fix my issues with FFXIII. People have a lot of criticism towards the story and the characters, but because I had already played the trilogy 8, 6, and 4 years ago, the stories have properly sunk into my mind and I think, that while each part of this “trilogy” has nothing to do with with each other despite claiming they’re one big story and the story was poorly explained in each game, they are all very unique and good. As for the characters, thye’ve grown on me, and I like them all. Maybe they have a few issues, but I don’t think they’re as bad as people make them out to be. A revisit to these games would be good for those who previously hated it; maybe they’ll see them in a new light.

As far as the linearity goes, it doesn’t last very long as long as you know what you’re doing, and once you get to the open world that breath of fresh air is nice.

If they were to remaster the trilogy as a whole, I don’t have many issues with XIII-2 that immediately come to mind, but a nice graphics polish and update to LR would be nice. They seem very choppy and thrown together compared to the last two games.

Here’s hoping they do an Final Fantasy XIII HD revamp game some day soon, even though I’m almost done with the original version as it is, I’ll still take one with an adjusted battle system. I even made up an awesome name for it in the title of the blog!
