Catchy title, eh? I think the pic says it all. I have been at a tug-of-war with Mirror's Edge the last few days. On one hand it is an extremely well made game. The graphics are gorgeous, the art work is top notch, and the thrill of jumping from building to building is well captured. On the other hand it is absolutely maddening and frustrating!!!
Seriously, the combat SUCKS!!!! Faith can't fight worth a shit. Some of the paths are confusing as all hell too!! I literally will go from doing 100 miles an hour from point A to B to a sudden dead STOP!! It's either because the path is totally unclear, or the group of assholes shooting at you are completely resistant to punches. 2 hits I'm dead, but I have to pound the living shit out of them in order to even knock them off balance?!
And don't even get me started on some of the jumps.....talk about being extra picky as to placement!!! Same with the flying kicks actually. I might be being a bit too rough on the game, as it's probably pretty damn realistic.....but that's because I'm bitter about how many frickin' times I died!!! Is there a death counter, cause I think I maxed that shit out!! LMFAO
With all that said, I went ahead and beat the game on Normal without shooting a single person......go me!! Now I'm going to play hard, and you can bet your sweet ass I will be poppin' caps!! LOL I'm looking forward to earning that platinum trophy, but I can tell it's going to be a pain and will consume my life for the next few days. All-in-all it's not a bad game to be stuck in, just remember to check your temper and that controllers cost $50 a pop before you throw the damn thing to the ground in a million pieces.
I also highly recommend getting the hang of disarms, very useful.
It's definitely very frustrating at points, though. But I'm looking forward to also beating it on hard.
Disturbingly, "Kiker" has an ME review up. Haha. You have a doppelganger on yr hands.
I did watch your vid buddy, that's where I got my uber leet combat skilz!!
I'm going to beat it on hard using a gun because that's just how I roll! LMAO I was trying some of the time trials last night and a couple speed runs. I can tell I will be utilizing a ghost for some.
kik is a damn cool name, what can I say?! LMFAO
I had to beat the game in 12 hours to write a review for it... AND I didn't shoot anyone. Been meaning to go back and massacre the city's law enforcement though.
I told Sean I almost burst into tears at multiple points in the game because of the pressure -- received the review copy less than 24 hours before the embargo date was to be lifted.
How did you guys(and woman) get to become part of Neo's writing team anyway? I would love a gig like that.
I wouldn't rather the death mechanic was changed, I love the realism. Of course it's not what we're used to (Contra excepted) so folks like yourself will not feel the same..
Some more tactics: run, slide, get up, then disarm. Close range double kicks. Slide, stop, punch 'em in the balls. Etcetera.
I'm so not a noob.
I have no idea how I got this job really, but if you want to get in on it, best thing to do is start writing volunteer for us. Can't say when/if it would pay eventually, but I assume so if you kept at it for a long while and did great work. PM Wolfwood to get set up, and me if you need any help/advice. I'm gonna do up a writing guide today I think..
Edit: here it is.
Not concerned about pay so much as doing so as a hobby and getting the opportunity to review games before the street date. I enjoyed your guide, now (im)patiently awaiting RBC's mark-up guide.
BTW I keep calling her RBC.....but for the life of me can't figure out why.....it just rolls right off the tongue.....errrrrr finger tips. LOL RCG is just so.....RCGish.
If you don't care about pay then there's no worries at all -- we'd love to have you onboard. Reviews could be worked out..Lydia would probably pass everything she didn't want on to you..haha.
I was wondering that too! Hahah. RBC is a bank..maybe that's why.
The only system I don't have is an XBOX. So I'm game for whatever is possible. I wrote a couple of reviews for Extraammo.com but they aren't supplying any review copies so you either buy your own and fight with the other writers over who gets to write the article, or you just don't get to write.
That wouldn't be so bad if I could afford every single game the day it came out LMAO
