The Drunken Monk's Sermon

New Review, and MOAR LEGO!!

I have been so wrapped up in building my LEGO project the past couple of weeks I haven't had much time for anything else. I've been building the LEGO Millennium Falcon which is slightly over 5000 pieces and weighs in ~22 lbs!!! YIKES! I've actually uploaded some construction pics to my photo gallery for your enjoyment. I will be wrapping up this build tonight and will take some final photos. It will be on display in my house (or most likely the garage LOL) for about 6 weeks before I tear it down and absorb the pieces into my growing collection.

I'm trying to catch up to the rest of the LEGO world. Luckily my wife has picked up on the LEGO craze as well and has allowed me to pick up even MOAR LEGO!!! WOOT!!! Adrian would be proud. ;)

And lastly, we FINALLY got the Chronicles of Riddick review up and running. You can check it out HEREPlease leave comments/suggestions/bitches, etc. I

This Blog Is No Longer Behind

Well I've been neglecting my blog duties lately! I sincerely apologize. I have been dealing with sick kids since we got back from our great trip to Cali, and it's dampened the mood a bit around the home. I have been trying to let the funk slide off my back, and this weekend there is a distinct possibility that will happen. The fact that my daughters are feeling much better helps out tremendously!!

I got Killzone 2 and made it about half way through the campaign in an evening. While there doesn't seem to be too much involved in that regard, I will say that it is intense. I found myself having to quit playing, not because it was getting too late, but because I was gripping the controller so hard that my hands were starting to hurt. I found it a bit curious that I was doing that LMAO. Haven't tried online yet, but will in a few days I think.

Yesterday I received a copy of Chronicles o

Cali Here I Come!!

Ahhhhhh Cali. My birthplace, my home, my comfort zone! Cali is one of those unique places that really seems to fit me. And why wouldn't it? I was born and raised in San Diego after all. Unfortunately the soaring housing market, and shitty wages forced me to retreat to Arizona.....a place where most Californians scoff at. Even though we would come over and destroy their deserts.... >.>

The last time I came back to Cali I got 'Cali' tattooed on my stomach. I wish I could say that was a fond memory, but unfortunately after 4 hours of being drilled on the tattoo still isn't finished! The 'artist' who was working on me was on some drugs I figure. Either way, I haven't let anyone else touch the damn tat to finish/fix it because the pain is an extremely vivid memory!

This time I get to take my girls for the first time, and my step-son. Unfortunately we don't have room for my other step-

STILL Haven't Touched My Wii O_o

Another busy week of my life gone! Work has become so damn tedious lately.....there's just so much to do!! I only hope they recognize that fact when they do a round of lay-offs this year, which we all fear is only a matter of time. Our projected net this year is 85+mil. So far the last 3 months we have lost over 2 mil of our projected income for those months. Not a good time here at the company, as we are certain we will feel a pinch. Regardless of all that, I do have a job for the time being, and it keeps me occupied so no overwhelming complaints from me.

As most of you know Amazon has started their very own trade-in system for used games. At first I was pretty skeptical, but after they offered an extra $20 for 4 trade-ins I took the leap. I went ahead and sent in Heavenly Sword, Eternal Sonata, Ratchet and Clank, and Uncharted for a grand total of $57.50 credit. That doesn't inc

Working Hard, Playing Even Harder

BUSY WEEK!!!! Man, it's been hectic lately!! Between work, kids, and gaming I have been one busy mofo! I beat 3 games this week alone! Guitar Hero World Tour, Burnout Paradise, and finally God of War II!! I am working on a DS game as we speak called Mazes of Fate. *cough* don't waste your money on it *cough* Oh and because I know most people don't make it past the first paragraph, check out my first official review for Neoseeker here: CLICK ME and leave your comments. I would love to hear any feedback. Big thanks to Sean, Leo, Adrian, and of course Kevin for helping me out! And also Redemption for looking the other way and letting me sneak on board ^.^ LOL

I still have a LOT to do in Burnout Paradise. It is an amazing game, and I will be one of the ones lining up to pick up the new Surf Island addition hitting the PSN and XBOX stores shortly. If it's $20 that is. I will most

Odds and Ends; Mostly Odd.

What a week it's been!!! I normally would update my blog on Wednesday, but I was recovering from a wild night of Irish song, drink, and eats all consumed during St. Patty's Day evening. We don't have that much Irish music in the house, something I hope to fix in the future, so we had to resort to some old school hip-hop to carry us through. Most notably Snoop Dogg, which is just one of those "I grew up in So Cal during Snoop and Dre's Heyday, and is now a staple of my music library" things.

We were kid free which is an extreme rarity and decided to take full advantage of the fact. Even going as far as taking the following day off to recover. It was great to shed responsibilities for a short while, and something the wife and I need to do more often.

We got beer, whiskey, Bailey's Irish Cream and planned on partying until 6 in the morning!!! I think we were in bed by 11:30. Yeah,

Success!!

WOOT!!! I FINALLY got Burnout Paradise to work correctly online!! It took nearly two weeks, multiple account password changes, and opening ports on my router. The opening of ports was completely new to me, but I somehow managed to stumble through it. I even set my PS3 as a wireless connection and learned to assign it a new address......aren't I cool?! LOL

Unfortunately I will have to put the chair up for a few days while my daughters are hanging around.......well for the most part. My daughter Caelin loves sitting on my lap and driving, so I may let them do that ^.^

Man, seriously that is a relief!! I spent all night last night trying to open up ports and do all kinds of weird voodoo on my router. I still can't get better than a NAT 3 which is a bit disturbing, but whatever.....it will do for the time being. I don't really feel like buying a new router and modem. Right now I'm

Unfinished Thoughts

Well it's been a full week, so I figure an update is in order. I haven't been playing too much Mirror's Edge the last few days. Mainly because I'm having problems logging into EA's servers and seeing the leader boards and ghosts for some of the speed runs. So I finally decided to slip in Burnout Paradise and give it a go. Well, same bullshit with EA's servers. I don't understand what the deal is, and after 4 days of waiting I still have no answer from EA as to what the cause is. I do indeed have a valid account with them, so the hold up is on their end. I can log in just fine on my comp, but when it comes to my PS3 forget it.

Not to be deterred, I started playing Burnout Paradise anyway. I have a very nice racing chair and the GT driving wheel that rarely works with racing games. After unburying it in the garage, I dragged it in and gave it a whirl. It works like a champ on that

Mirror's Edge Reflections

Catchy title, eh? I think the pic says it all. I have been at a tug-of-war with Mirror's Edge the last few days. On one hand it is an extremely well made game. The graphics are gorgeous, the art work is top notch, and the thrill of jumping from building to building is well captured. On the other hand it is absolutely maddening and frustrating!!!

Seriously, the combat SUCKS!!!! Faith can't fight worth a shit. Some of the paths are confusing as all hell too!! I literally will go from doing 100 miles an hour from point A to B to a sudden dead STOP!! It's either because the path is totally unclear, or the group of assholes shooting at you are completely resistant to punches. 2 hits I'm dead, but I have to pound the living shit out of them in order to even knock them off balance?!

And don't even get me started on some of the jumps.....talk about being extra picky as to placement!!! S

The Miley Scandal

So there's been this HUGE shit storm going on for Miley Cyrus lately regarding a photo that was taken with a few friends where they pull back their eyes in jest presumably of Asians. Well no, "Pacific Islanders" I guess is what is preferred these days. Which is slightly odd to me. The Pacific Islanders hail from Asia.......but they don't like being called Asians? Are Europeans (who are from EUROPE....go figure) going to start wanting to be called "Atlantic continentals"? Or Spaniards, or Americans, or Germans......I dunno, where does it stop?

I just don't understand why people get so damn offensive about a name, that is only meant to signify your region of origin? Maybe the people from Japan don't want to be associated with China peoples? I dunno, because I'm totally lost as to what name I'm allowed to use for what people.....and it frickin' changes depending on who you're talking
