CCleaner (full name Crap Cleaner) is a freeware system cleaner by Piriform. Its functions are suggested by its name, in that it removes anything and everything that can be considered 'crap'. Anything listed can be safely removed, but still depends on what the end user requires.

CCleaner comes with 3 main features - the main cleaner, a registry cleaner, and a remove programs list. It also has a basic startup list displaying all non essential entries.

Firefox, compared to several other internet browsers is fast. Not overly fast nowadays, as other browsers are catching up, but fast enough to stand out. AVG 8 Free is the latest anti virus program released by Grisoft. It is a freeware program that excels at detecting viruses while performing a scan, or in realtime. It is also capable of some spyware detection, and comes with an optional link scanner add on for internet browsers, which will scan links in search engines and display an icon next to it regarding any threats or possible threats.

Spybot is first and foremost a freeware malware detection, prevention and removal program. To do this it has a scanner which to date, is capable of finding over 300 000 forms of spyware, adware, and general malware signatures.
