Chain Letters; 4 Important Reasons To Break Them.

What are chain letters? Chain are the letters the things that most people get in their mail, the body of the mail says something like "send this to 14 contacts or you die tomorrow!!!!", then regardless of if you believe on the chain letter, you decide to send the freaking chain letter to 14 contacts on your list.

Who makes them?
    1.- Children

Children make the popular "you will tomorrow if you don't send this", "if u send dis to 15 contacts a girl will love you", "send dis to everyone on ur list and u will be lucky". Children make the least harmful types of chain letters/junk mail, but it is the most annoying for some reason.
You HAVE to stop that stupid practice of resending chain mail, NOW.
    2.- Cheap, Idiotic Attention Seekers:

Most of the time these are drama queens that are like "plz i ned ur moneh 2 saveh mai lifez"... This is the worst of all. Because unfortunately, most of the time it is a fake chain letters, and sometimes, it is true as your own existence. These people are the worst. They decided to worry everyone with stories of children missing, or someone dieing, etc., and like I said before, a few percentage of the time the stories are indeed true. What to do in case of doubt? Keep reading to find.
I have compiled a list of reasons to break chain letters immediately and NOT to spread it more. Don't be an idiot, you never know when you can be saving lives by just breaking a chain letter:
    1. They Are Annoying:

Lets be honest people here. Everyone that uses the internet has received the "send this or you die"-kind of lies. Many of you believed the story of your death, and others spread the chain letter "because it is harmless fun". Thing is... They are annoying. They come in masses, and you have to scroll down over a million of other contacts to read the actual content, which usually is boring, useless, and not funny.
    2. You Are Risking YOUR Privacy and OTHERS' Privacy:

Hey, have you noticed that when you are forwarding a chain mail, you are giving away a shitload of emails of people you don't know, and your own e-mail? At this rate, your information can and will fall on malicious hands eventually. That will result in harmful mail, spyware and viruses in your computer, and so on. You never know when those malicious hands will get your house address and are going to find you to beat the hell out of you.
    3. People Like To "Have Fun", and "Play" With Other Peoples Lives:

This is the most important point in my opinion. I am sick and tired of "this child is missing" kind of mails. I go ballistic and do some research, just to find out that someone is playing an stupid hoax to see how many illiterate internet folks fall on their traps. The result? More spam mail, then the people that find out the mail eventually break most-to-all similar e-mail letters. What with that? You never know when the story is actually true, and you will indeed get stories that are true, but will break the chain letter in the act before anything.
Consider Reachelle's Smith Case (main picture of this blog post). I have people that showed me a similar mail, only with a few paragraphs changed. Most of them broke the chain, until I did some research, and look what I found? HER STORY WAS ACTUALLY TRUE!
    4. You are gonna be poor:

Let me guess. You opened your e-mail account this morning. It was from Bill Gates saying he wanted to donate all his money to you for whatever reason. But in order for that to happen, you have to "give him" your credit card numbers and send the email to 15 people. You then do what the mail says... And the next day, your bank account is empty, you have used money you don't have, and you have false accusations against you.
I could list you about three more reasons now, but those are the ones that really matter now.

How to avoid them? DO RESEARCH. There are websites dedicated to just that. You can take a quick look at these sites or Google some more similar websites: Like any other action in your life, what is important is to do research on the topic. Find the laws regarding Computer Abuse in your state/country. Alternatively, to find the chain letter you just found on the net, copy and paste part of the text in google around quotation marks to do an exact search. That will bring all the results with that phrase there.

I am annoyed when people mess with children lives in chain letters. I never know when they are fake, or true. When they are true, what to do about it. I am sure you can fight this epidemic with others.

The internets full of crap. So like the many other annoying things it has to offer, I tend too ignore it. Typical tactic that dosen't solve anything, I know, but its better than getting involved in the inevitable and pointless internet drama.

And wow, you put a lot of effort into your blog don't you? Im quite impressed!

I asked my sister about these once and she said she did forward them. I said it wasn't a good idea and as far as I know she stopped after that.

I think I only ever read one myself, which was one of those "true love" ones.

Ugh, I get those all the time. >.>
I usually read them, but now it's like I don't even care.
Anytime I get one, I just go ahead and delete it.

Nice blog, people really should stop sending these and whatnot.

Do I have time for silly chain mail? Not!! I don't give these a moment. Now, how can I convince people I know not to include me. I have to do it without being rude! How?? Anyone??

I've never got chain mail before and I'd probably be too lazy to do anything about it anyway

I've had to go to a few of my friends and personally ask them to stop sending me chain mails because they're always filling up my inbox and being the only new emails whenever I receive a "new mail" notification.

It's usually some corny story or a "scary" threat mail or whatever. They're annoying as hell.

I always get these from friends and random people.
It is so annoying. I log on to check my e-mails, 99% of the new e-mails are chain letters. >:L
