Videogames Are Not So Cool; Hope It's My Age.

I remember back in the day (when I was like 6 - 9), Videogames were really something really cool for me. I could spend hours playing Videogames, all kind of games, but now, it seems that they are not so cool anymore. Are they getting repetitive? Probably. Is it my age? Most likely.

These two factors (they are getting repetitive and I'm getting older) are affecting the way I view videogames this days.

Back in the days when the almighty N64 was around, I used to find the first Mario Party incredibly amusing. All kind of mini games, plus the graphics were so great for it's time. I used to play that game almost every day unlocking all the minigames, items, and whatnot. The controllers where not interactive in any way, it was just to press a few buttons and that was about it. Now? We have the newest Mario Party game, 8 for the Wii. Heck, I remember when I purchased that game, I was saying "oh boy, this is going to be some awesome business"... For my surprise, I played only one board game with God knows how many minigames, and I didn't find it even half as amusing as the first Mario Party. This Mario Party was probably a lot of people wanted to play: move the controller to simulate you are moving a can, or point the screen to simulate a ball-throwing gun, or move the controller funnily to achieve some goal. I too though that kind of new gameplay was going to be awesome, but it wasn't like that.

Long gone are the days where I could sit down up to 5 hours of videogames. I turned Mario Party 8 off after about 20 minutes of gameplay, but later I installed my classic N64 and played the first Mario Party, although again I didn't last long, as I only played it for about 40 minutes, but I turned it off. The only solution I could think of for such low play times was that Mario Party was boring and in a way repetitive and I am very old.

Also with Zelda games... All of them I have played to the day kept me addicted, with the exception of Twilight Princess. It may have an awesome Gameplay, but that wasn't enough. It lacks the Magic (literally) Ocarina Of Time, Majora's Mask, and A Link To The Past had. I simply cannot believe the fact the new games are failing on my eyes. Probably that wouldn't be the case if I was younger.

The last game that kept my hooked was Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles for the DS, but it only lasted 12 hours. It however is the only game that kept me hooked after about a year.

I hope this problem is just big because of my age, but for the looks of it, they are getting indeed boring and repetitive. I hope I get hooked with another videogame in early 2009.

I would only play MP8 with my cousins tbh ):.

I dunno; my age has yet to be a factor in my taste for video games. If anything I can focus on the games more now that I'm older, since I understand the premise better.

That's happened to me numerous times before. Sometimes, I would lose interest in video games altogether, but then I get more interested in them again. Currently, I'm pretty interested in them.

I loved the Mario Party Games so much it was hilarious.

I did many of the things that you stated as well, although my love for gaming has not dulled my view upon Video Games.

you are right games become boring after a while.
And it isnt your age is the problem of the missing things in the games, in mario parties the best i think is the four from there on they are only boring mini games there is no good plot nor good boards, but thats my opinion...
