The Refuge Shelter

Untitled Novel

Well, after much late night deliberation, I've done some soul searching and have decided to try my luck at novel writing. Purely for fun, of course.

Basically the most info I can give related to the novel is that it will be based around a Zombie Survival theme.

Any and all help contributing towards the novel will be much appreciated. Please give comments or PMs or help or support in any way you can and it will be much appreciated!

Also, sometime in the future, I may be enquiring about work for graphic designs or art based on the novel. If anyone is offering to help, it would be very much appreciated.

I am hoping that I can get some support with this, and hope that I have not wasted anyone's time.

Are you planning on starting it in media res? Or do you plan on outlining the events before said zombie infection?

Oooh, wow, if you can pull it off, it will turn out fantastically. Will it be third person, or first? Imo third is easier to write in. Less tedious use of 'I'.

Still considering on either 3rd person or 1st. It'll basically start with the main character, during the beginning of it, then will gradually reveal events before.

I don't know. Zombie survival doesn't seem too original. I'm happy to give suggestions!

I agree. Survival from a rabid bunny attack would be better. I mean, they already repopulate at an amazing rate, so more and more would continually come, putting up another obstacle!

Hmmm, the technique of revealing past events from in the middle of the story is quite hard to do, if you want some pointers, the book 'A Kestrel For a Knave' would be perfect. It does exactly that. Your ideas are good so far

I'm a bit concerned about actually providing in depth information here, for fear of theft.

It's pretty tough to come up with any twist on the zombie genre. If you can do it, you should do it.

If you want, I can tell you, but all in all, wouldn't you rather know as little as possible to have the best outcome for if/when you actually read it?

To everyone! If you have any suggestions or ideas, please PM them to me. I will be more than glad to hear from you.

Make sure you go into some depth about "how it all started", I'd want to know how and/or why this zombie apocalypse came to be.

I agree with Zaz, But not too much leave a little mystery that will unravel itself as the story progress.

That's one of the main points I will make in it.

You have to be the literal master of suspense when writing soemthing like this Get that right, and it will be a success.

The zombie genre is quite played out, and hard to make it original. However, if you try and take a similar theme, but maybe have the world destroyed by, some plague of monsters of some description, that might do it. Think of Legendary, and Dog Soldiers. But make them as similar to zombies as you can!

I'm pretty dead set on basic human zombies. Although the genre is overrated, it'll have the touch of Adam to it.

if you're planning to make it like a saga thing then i suggest you use like past or future references.
