Depression Help

Are you feeling gloomier than usual? Not interested in activities that you once thought were fun? Do you just not care anymore? Are you numb to all of your emotions? Are you getting tired of everything life has thrown at you?

Before you turn to medications and professionals to help get your life back on track, have you sat down and thought about your situation? What is making you act out? Why do you feel like you are alone? What is destroying your life?

I have few words of advice and some tips to help you overcome these feelings that worked for me when I went through some hard times, and maybe they will you too.

Have you talked to anyone about your problems? Bottling up your emotions is one of the worst things you can do. It can cause stress, which can cause many problems, including causing you to have these depressing thoughts. You will be amazed at how good you will feel after you get it all off of your chest. If you don't have a friend or family member you can turn to, try your local doctor, teacher, school counselor, or anyone else that you can trust. "Well my parents will just give me a two hour lecture on how I got it easy compared to other people." is not an excuse. Have you ever stopped and thought, “What if the two our lecture actually had valuable information in it?”

Exercise plays an important role in both physical and emotional health. If you exercise on a regular basis, you will feel better and happier. I am not saying that just out of personal experience, but as a fact. To keep it simple, exercise makes your body release endorphins, and endorphins make you feel better. It will not only make you feel better, but when the chicks/dudes start checking you out more and more because you're getting into better shape, you will become more confident as well. You could pick up a sport, jog up and down your road, do push ups, lift weights, and/or much more. There are literally thousands of ways for you to exercise with or without equipment. Don't have a bike? Just run in the park. There is no excuses when it comes to this, if you want it bad enough, you'll find a way.

Eating healthier goes hand in hand with exercise. Eating better foods will help your body run more efficiently and help with your exercises. It will also make sure you get all the vitamins and nutrients you need to grow and function properly and at your best. If you can't make this life changing diet work for you, then just try eating some fruit at every meal and drinking plenty of water throughout the day. Try dropping two unhealthy snack or meals you eat everyday, and replace it with a healthier alternative. When you get used to this change, try repeating this with another two unhealthy snacks and/or meals.

Have you tried getting a hobby to keep your mind off of negative things? It could be joining a club or sports team. You could collect things, ride motorcycles, fix cars, play basket ball, or anything else you like to do. It will help keep your mind off of all the things causing you to feel depressed, help you socialize with people that have the same interests, and best of all, do something you enjoy! Maybe you just need to find something new and interesting to overcome this obstacle life has thrown at you.

Are you always looking in the mirror, trying to get your hair just right? Do think you look ugly compared to that other guy/girl across the room from you? I bet you think they have the perfect appearance. It's not that their appearance is "perfect", it's that they don't let it get to them. Everyone and I repeat, everyone is self conscious about their looks in one way or another. The important thing is to not worry about it if you cannot control it. That causes so many people stress, worrying about things that is out of their control. You need to have confidence in yourself and it will show. Being confident will most likely make other girls/guys more attracted to you since confidence is a major factor when trying to get a date, which will ultimately make you happy, thus curing your depressing symptoms.

Have you ever thought, "Why shouldn't I just end it all? No one would miss me. Why not just get all of this suffering over with?" Well, you have to think about more than just yourself. Think of all the people besides you, you will hurt. It will cause your family, friends, and other loved ones pain that they will have to deal with for the rest of their lives.

"But life is so miserable. I don't want to stay around here and take all of this pain for the rest of my life!" You don't have to. Life is what you make it. Simple as that. You can look at the good and not the bad, you can just focus on the bad, or you could look at both sides, in which the bad would out weight the good since our world is so corrupt. In the end, you have to look at the good and try not to focus and linger on the bad. It will only lead to worse. If your house burned down, would you be sad that all of your possessions were destroyed, or would you be happy that you were still alive? If you broke your leg in car accident, would you be depressed because you were in pain, your car was destroyed, and you couldn't walk, or would you be happy you weren't dead and thank god for the advances in the medical field so that you don't have to get your leg amputated? It is up to you how you look at situations in life, and not up to situations how you look at life.

You can tell a friend or family member about these thoughts of suicide, and if they aren't available, check yourself into a hospital or call 911. There are suicide hotlines just for that. Call or tell someone, we can only help you if you want to be helped.

You have many options before you, but you have to want to try them before they will help you. So if you take this advice and don't do anything with it, then you can't say that you have tried to help yourself. You have to want something to get it.

Thank you for the comment, I'm glad you liked it. I mainly wrote this to just link people to when they make posts on here about being depressed and stuff. That, and wanting to share my knowledge on the subject with the site.
