Gamestop Commercials: Maybe a bit too far?

Over the past few months, a few commercials have caught my eye, mainly because it isn't something that my mother would like to see. Gamestop has had a few commercials out, some of which, I've found very funny. Here was the first one:

And this one....

Now is it just me, or are these geared more at teenage gamers? I noticed the second one come on ABC once whenever I was in the living room with a few siblings and my mom. When she realized what was being blurred out she turned the channel and changed it back about 30 seconds later. I'm curious, have they pushed it just a little too far? Personally, I don't mind them, but I know a lot of parents that don't like commericals cursing, even if it is covered up by a sound like in that first one.

Blogging about Cake!

Well, it seems as though blogging + cake was a theme in the main announcements about blogs (found here and here), so I thought I might as well blog about a cake I baked.

On Saturday I was a little bored and craving cake. Now baking (or cooking for that matter) isn't my forte, but with instructions and ingredients it isn't too hard. I found some strawberry cake mix and some strawberry icing, so I thought I'd take a whack at it. I had made one cake before, so I was fairly new at it. Still, I think I did fairly well (except for the icing job).

Unfortunately the cake was gone by Sunday (six people at my house, most of which enjoy cake, you do the math), but I did snap some pictures of it with my crappy camera phone before it was devoured.

Horrible icing job. ^

Mmmmm, cake.

What should NeoBlogs be used for?

There seems to be a bit of a controversy as to what NeoBlogs should be used for. Some say that they should be used specifically for gaming and hardware since this is a gaming/hardware site (it is officially a hardware site, but the gaming aspects of it seem to be more popular). Others say that NeoBlogs should be used like regular blogs, but to a reasonable extent. I'm here to try to say the pro's and con's for both, and decide myself. Who knows, maybe by the time I finish this entry I would have persuaded not only myself, but others to have a similar to view to what my conclusion says is best.

For starters, the arguement stating that NeoBlogs should be used strictly for gaming and hardware related things. I do think that personal game diaries and even hardware diaries would be a good and fun read. Also things about upcoming games, such as members thoughts on games and hardware, prior to o

Identity Theft's Newest Victim

I was browsing through the news on yahoo and I noticed something that I found a little funny. A 44 year old man apparently used the social security number of a three year old girl to register for phone and natural gas services. At first I laughed a little bit, but I soon came to the actualization that this is probably one of many times this has happened, but a certain Michael John Maris was one of the few to get caught.

Anyway, the story can be found here, or read below.

---------

GRAHAM, N.C. – Authorities say a North Carolina man used a Social Security number belonging to a 3-year-old girl to sign up for telephone and natural gas service. The News and Record of Greensboro reported Tuesday that 44-year-old Michael John Maris of Mebane was charged with one count of identity theft and two counts of obtaining property by false pretense.

Alamance County sheriff's officials said the child's gra

Typing to a tune?

Today, before starting my daily routine on the computer, I decided to flip on the radio. A few good songs came on, and I was too lazy to change stations when one I didn't like came on. So there I was, beginning to type something up for school, already having the wording and what the finished product will look like in my head. I start typing and I notice something odd, I'm subconsciously typing to the lyrics of the song. At that time, "Bleeding Love" by Leona Lewis was on, and it had just started the singing. Every time she would be saying a word, I would type it in a rythmatic fashion, not typing anything inbetween words. I was seemingly typing in quick spurts, with less than a second break before typing again.

Half-way through the song I caught myself doing this so I decided to turn off the music. I began to wonder if I had done this in the past when typing and simultaneously listening

Overview of Chad's gaming this past week

Why am I doing an overview of a week from a Thursday to a Wednesday instead of Sunday to Saturday? Because I can. :)

Anyway, throughout this week I've logged in a fair amount of hours gaming. The list goes about like this:

Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town (GBA) - 2 hours
Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility (Wii) - 3 hours
Animal Crossing: City Folk (Wii) - 3 hours
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PS3) - 11 hours
Call of Duty: World at War (XBOX360) - 2 hours
Various PS3 Demos - 1 hour

I found it odd that I didn't play any more than five games during the past week, but the fact that I had logged in 20+ hours of gaming didn't really come as a shock to me. I really wasn't doing much in Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town except for continually trying to complete a few objectives that I should have done a long time ago. Namely, collect all of the Goddess Jewels and Kappa Jewels. This basically m

Blogging: Take 1, Aaaannddd ACTION!

Hey-o, it's Chad. Wow, not sure how to start this off, so I guess I'll just introduce myself. My name is Chad, I live in Arkansas, USA. Gaming is among my many hobbies (others include various sports, movies, anime, hanging out with friends, etc.). I'm still unsure of what I want for a profession in the future, but I would prefer it to be something that has to do with gaming, maybe either writing reviews and/or news for games and game-related entities.

I recently wrecked my car, so I thought I might go ahead and upload a pic of it sitting in a yard just to see how everything looks with an image on a blog entry. So if any of you wanna send me some cash to help me pay for a new car, feel free to do so. :P

Anyway, I've been coming to Neoseeker for almost four years now and I still enjoy it. Some accomplishments/notable events for me were becoming portal staff (now wiki staff), a member of NeoC
