Some of you all know that I crashed my car a few weeks ago. Along with the crash, I got a ticket for "Driving too fast for the conditions" (which yeah, I had to pay the $110 for it). In order to keep this off of my insurance record thingie, I had to go take a Defensive Driving Class. Unfortunately these classes are only on Saturday mornings, which I'm used to staying up late Friday night, so it was a bit of a change going to sleep early.
I arrive at the class and see two elderly women, and a man that looked in his 40's. I scanned around a bit more and saw only one other person, one of my good friends. I was a bit surprised to see him there tbh, and more surprised when I found out he got a speeding ticket (he is one of those cautious drivers who stays within the speed limit, so that is why it was a shock).
The unusually small class started, and we went through the basic stuff. About half-way through, we got to a little portion about police stops (it was about DUI's/DWI's). The very first clip it showed was this following scene from the show
Reno 911:
At the end, we had a little survey to take about the teacher's performance, what we learned, could it have been better, and our favorite part. Both my friend and I put the DUI videos for the Favorite Part. :)
Anyway, now I don't have that ticket on my insurance, so I'm in a good mood. Still a little mad about wasting the first half of a Saturday though.
I totaled a car before as well. I was driving home late at night on a freeway and made a bad judgment call. In order to avoid a car in front of me who had merged and was braking sporadically, I didn't see an oncoming big rig in my blind spot and hitting it from the side like I did pretty much ate the driver's side of my car.
It was traumatic as hell. For my birthday, my uncle took me to South Carolina for the BMW driving school, where they teach you how to react in emergency situations while giving you yummy food.
Honestly though, I haven't been on the freeway since. I'm glad you weren't so mentally scarred by your accident.
Haha, what a birthday pressent.
You learn a lot, while having a hell of a good time. Yes... we were all there to learn. Of course.
