Achievements , Life and Gaming wise.
Now I've always considered doing things my life that are worthwile and i could consider achievements, Hell its being a rough year for me so far. I've had numerous health problems and such but i got through them, hence me being here writing this. I mean in the next few days ill be getting some results for the A- level exams i've done, and its funny how simply seeing a letter A or B etc can fill someone with pride. I doubt i'll see an A or B on my results card for that matter though maybe a nice C.
Either way my result's will give me that sense of achievement that ive done something challenging and came out on top. I'll feel that ive earned those results after a hard final year of school and the such. And that covers the life part of this.
Now the achievement system seen on the Xbox 360 and to a lesser extent the trophies rip off on the PS3 are fantastic ways of showing you having done a challenging part of game. Now some are amazingly easy (The first Naruto or King Kong game for example) are cakewalk for an easy 1000 gamerscore. Yet there are some games out there provide a good challenge in getting them, case in hand being Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars. Doing the Nod campaign on Hard with all bonus objectives is no easy feat and i think its a worthwile achievement to have under your belt (Still havent got it yet) when compared to the ones off King Kong or even my beloved Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Althought originally i was quite determined to have a high gamerscore and i have a rather competetive bet with my friend to see who could reach 10,000 faster, but after reaching about 12,000 , i wasnt really going for the gamerscore anymore. I've come to despise those brag about their GS being really high only to look at their games to see lots of games like King Kong on their list. These days i get the achievements as a sense of completion and once ive got them all , i consider the game complete. So with a tinge of sadness i'll admit that ill never complete the Orange Box, for the Aperture Science achievement is almost impossible and its bested me so far.
Anyways that'll do for this Blog Post, Rather Large for my first one too oh well..
