Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box @ Neoseeker [Layton@Neo]

This is Layton@Neo: Professor Layton @ Neoseeker, the latest campaign on the @Neoseeker tour for and promote Nintendo's puzzle-solving adventure title Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box for the Nintendo DS. Developed by RPG house Level-5 (Dragon Quest VIII/IX, Inazuma Eleven, White Knight Chronicles, Rogue Galaxy, Dark Cloud), Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box puts you in control of the titular professor and his assistant Luke as they seek out the mysteries surrounding the fabled Elysian Box and the death of Layton's mentor Dr. Andrew Schrader.

Professor Hershel Layton and his number one assistant Luke are back once again. Having already solved the mystery behind the curious village of St. Mystere in the duo's previous adventure, Professor Layton and the Curious Village, our favorite professor and apprentice take a ride on the Molentary Express with a mission.

The honorable Professor had received a letter from his mentor, Dr. Andrew Schrader, who had been in search of the elusive Elysian Box, a box which purportedly kills anyone who opens it. Lo and behold, the doctor has finally obtained the box, and wants to give the old artifact a go. When Layton and Luke arrive on the scene, however, it's too late: the good doctor is now a dead doctor who has died of unidentifiable causes, with the only clue being a ticket for the Molentary Express.

At the heart of each of the Professor Layton games are puzzles. These puzzles can be found as you point-and-click around the train while controlling Layton, inspecting various objects and talking to various people. Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box will contain over 150 different puzzles of multiple types, from number puzzles to logic puzzles to all sorts of puzzles that will utilize the touch screen. The original Professor Layton game contained 135 puzzles.

Each puzzle has a score you can obtain for correctly answering the puzzle, counted in Picarats. The amount of Picarats you can earn for a puzzle will decrease with every incorrect answer, so you want the maximum score you'll need a correct answer on the first try. If you get stuck on a puzzle, you can spend a hint coin which are strewn all around the world in various nooks and crannies that only the touch of the stylus can uncover. You can use up to three hints per puzzle, and if you still need help after that, you'll need to start thinking harder.

Like in Professor Layton and the Curious Village, there are extra puzzles and mysteries to uncover stowed away in the good professor's trunk. Like before, to get the parts and items necessary to complete these puzzles, you'll need to solve the puzzles tucked away inside the Molentary Express. These three extra puzzles include a camera that you'll have to put together, a hamster you need to get into shape, and a tea set where you need to combine some ingredients to concoct a delicious beverage.

Also like in the first game, there are Layton's extra challenges available, and weekly puzzles able to be downloaded via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, providing almost no stop to the fun. Utilizing a password found in Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box will unlocked that special content that was tucked away in Professor Layton and the Curious Village, and vice versa.
