The Story Behind PROJECT: Re/Save

This is the story and the main reason why I am doing PROJECT: Re/Save, as seen here

Please note that it is quite long, so bear with me.
EDIT: Also, yes, this blog is a thing now, so you get to read about my rants and other
randomness that is hapening in my life.:P

I am a gamer, as most of you know. I have a reasonable collection of games, over 80, in fact, spread over 6 consoles, or 3 generations of video game systems. 35 of those 80+ games are PlayStation 2 games. In order to save games, The PS2 requires a memory card, the standard capacity being 8MB. 35 games will not fit on one standard 8MB memory card, and as such, I had 3: 2 for all 35 games, and 1 for another purpose. This one was for storing replays, backups for only a few games and one special case. This was a German language file for Gran Turismo 3, in order to get Opel cars for my English file (I cannot understand German, apart from a few select words). But this memory card has nothing to do with this story/situation, so don't worry about it. It does, however, have to do with one of the main game save cards. The two memory cards were split up into games with high storage space and small storage space. This resulted in one card having about 9 game saves on it and one with 25.

Fast forward to today. While waiting for a PS3 game to update, I think, "Why not hook up my old PS2 and have a play?" I do so, finding all 3 memory cards. I put in a game and notice that the old problem of the memory cards not working unless I wiggle the card into a position where the system acknowledges it's in returns. The game is in a state where it asks me to insert the memory card, so I try wiggling the card, but it continue to say that one is not in. I turn off the system and restart it, going into the browser. I then plug in and wiggle the cards until they pop up in the UI, telling me that one is plugged in. Curious and wanting to know what memory card the game save is in, I look at the data in the card, it shows a couple of game saves and many, many replay files. This is my "backup" card, as I call it. I take it out and plug another in. It shows game saves, about 9 of them. This is card "2", as I call it.

The last card should have 25 save files, "Card #1" as I call it. I plug it in and hit "X". My mood turns 180o instantly. The resulting image on my screen shows, not 25 files, but two blue cubes of MOTHER*bleep*ING DEATH. I call it that because when I have had experience with the cubes, or to give its proper name 'Corrupted Data'. My memory card, which held years, YEARS OF PROGRESS that is close to my heart, that made me the person, the gamer that I am today, decided to give up the ghost and erase NEARLY EVERY SINGLE *bleep*ING PIECE OF CHILDHOOD I EVER HAD, but then had the *bleep*ING GALL to taunt me and leave just two unusable, undeletable files left, with 6.9MB free. THAT CARD HAD ABOUT 1 *bleep*ING MEGABYTE, if I recall correctly.

Ahem, anyway, because of this act of stupidity on the memory card's behalf, I am now
forced to buy another memory card and play though EVERY SINGLE GAME THAT WAS ON THAT CARD
AGAIN. I don't care if it's time wasting, I LOVE GAMING AND THAT BASTARD DELETED AND
CORRUPTED MY CHILDHOOD DAMNIT!

But now, this is the "Project That Shouldn't Have Existed", PROJECT: Re/Save!
